Description
This report discusses the ethnobotany of the Tewa people of Arizona, as studied by a team of ethnologists in the early 20th-century. The study was conducted as a part of the ethnological and archaeological research in the upper Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico done jointly by the Bureau of American Ethnology and the School of American Archaeology between 1910–11. Every facet of the flora in the territory of the Tewa Indians is documented, everything from the Tewa name for the plant, to the scientific name, to the color, composition, growth and condition and even the taste and smell. A number of plates and illustrations are included with the text.
